Procedure Kits
Procedure Kits bring the sutures — and, for hernia, the mesh — most commonly used in a given operation together in one sterile, ready-to-use pack. Hernia, Caesarean, OB/GYN and Orthopaedic kits are available, with codes customisable to surgeon preference.
01
Hernia Kit
A non-absorbable monofilament polypropylene mesh together with sutures commonly used in hernia repair — coated braided Polyglactin 910, monofilament polypropylene and monofilament nylon — for open and laparoscopic inguinal, ventral and umbilical repair.
02
Caesarean Kit (CS KIT)
Three suture materials for caesarean surgery — a coated braided Polyglactin 910 absorbable suture, a monofilament Polydioxanone absorbable suture and a monofilament polypropylene suture — with matched needles, covering absorbable and non-absorbable needs in one pack.
03
OB/GYN Kit (OB KIT 180)
Two absorbable materials for obstetrics — a coated braided Polyglactin 910 suture (in a long 180 cm length with two needle geometries) and a monofilament Poliglecaprone 25 suture — so the material can be matched to each tissue layer.
04
Orthopaedic Kit
Two materials for orthopaedic procedures — a coated braided Polyglactin 910 absorbable suture on a heavy cutting needle for deeper tissue, and a monofilament nylon suture for skin closure.
05
Customisable contents
The suture codes, sizes, lengths and needle configurations in each kit can be customised to the preferences of the surgeon and the requirements of the facility.
06
One sterile pack
Each kit is supplied sterile and ready to use, sterilized by ethylene oxide, with each component in its own foil within the pack.
What Procedure Kits Are
Dolphin Sutures Procedure Kits are pre-assembled combination packs that gather the suture codes — and, for hernia, a polypropylene mesh — most commonly required for a specific operation into a single sterile presentation. Rather than drawing multiple individual codes from stock, the surgical team receives the components for the procedure together, ready to use. Four kits are available — Hernia, Caesarean, OB/GYN and Orthopaedic — and the contents of each can be customised to surgeon preference.
The Kits
Hernia Kit
The Hernia Kit brings together a sterile non-absorbable monofilament polypropylene mesh with a set of sutures commonly used in inguinal, ventral, umbilical and other hernia repairs, across open and laparoscopic approaches. The accompanying sutures span coated braided Polyglactin 910 (absorbable), monofilament polypropylene (non-absorbable) and monofilament polyamide/Nylon 6 for skin and subcuticular closure. Needle types and gauges are selected to suit the anatomy of the repair.
Caesarean Kit (CS KIT)
The Caesarean Kit contains three suture materials used in caesarean surgery: a coated braided Polyglactin 910 absorbable suture, a monofilament Polydioxanone absorbable suture and a monofilament polypropylene suture, each on a matched needle. Together they cover absorbable and non-absorbable needs within one pack.
OB/GYN Kit (OB KIT 180)
The OB/GYN Kit combines two absorbable materials for obstetrics surgery: a coated braided Polyglactin 910 suture — supplied in a long 180 cm length with two needle geometries so it can be matched to softer tissue and to the heavier uterine wall — and a monofilament Poliglecaprone 25 suture. Providing two materials and needle geometries in one pack lets the surgeon match the material to the tissue layer being closed.
Orthopaedic Kit
The Orthopaedic Kit pairs a coated braided Polyglactin 910 absorbable suture, on a heavy cutting needle suited to tougher tissue, with a monofilament nylon suture commonly chosen for skin closure — addressing both deeper absorbable needs and cutaneous closure in a single pack.
Customisation and Convenience
A principal purpose of a Procedure Kit is to hold the suture requirements for an operation in a single pack. This can reduce the need for hospitals to maintain and monitor inventory across numerous separate suture codes, and offers simplicity for both medical distributors and hospital staff. The suture codes, sizes, lengths and needle configurations in each kit can be customised to the preferences of the surgeon and the requirements of the facility.
